I am a 26-year old single female. I love kids and am amazed at human development and watching the young grow. I’ve been babysitting since I was 16 and worked at a child daycare center where I took care of kids ranging from infants to 5 year olds. I also have extensive experience with older kids (elementary through high school) and tutor mainly in Math and French, but can help with homework on any subject (through high school. I can also tutor in college math and French). I’m very passionate about everything I do. I play soccer 5 times a week (when it’s warm) and lacrosse. I also play the piano and speak French fluently. I’m working on Korean (can read and write so far). I recently passed my certification test and now am a LesMills BodyStep instructor. I’ll be teaching in a couple of gyms around the area and am excited about that. Hi, I’m Adrianne! I am 19 years old, and I have lived in McLean, Virginia all of my life. I absolutely adore working with children. When I’m around kids I feel as if I am constantly reminded of the little things in life and that it’s all about having fun and enjoying every special moment of it. I began babysitting in my earlier years as a teenager, caring for kids around my neighborhood including family members of mine in the area. I have had experience working with children of various ages, and not just through babysitting, but through working as a sports camp counselor and private sports instructor as well. I am a physically active individual, and have been so ever since I began playing sports at the age of five. I’ll jump at the chance to play any game there is imaginable with my friends and with kids. Aside from babysitting, I am a college student planning to begin my sophomore year at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2011. I am currently a meteorology major, and depending upon the path I choose I would like to engage in some type of severe weather research with a concentration in tornadic development. I am looking to add a second major to supplement my meteorological background as well.

Hello, my name is Akoua and I am 27 years old. I am originally from Pennsylvania. Currently, I work at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). While serving in the Peace Corps in Africa, the children in the village would frequently visit my house. We would sing songs, draw and color, and play games. The time I spent with the kids was the highlight of my days.

I have always been very active and like playing sports. On numerous occasions, I have coached young, aspiring softball players at clinics. In addition, I have mentored and tutored inner city middle school students. Family members and friends would often ask me to watch their children because I am responsible and I love spending time with kids. In my experiences, I have learned interacting with children is an incredibly rewarding experience. Their curiosity and energy keeps us on our feet and it’s a challenge I embrace with enthusiasm. Hi! My name is Ali and I’m 24. I’m originally from northern New Jersey but I have enjoyed living in and discovering the DC area over the past couple of years. I love working with kids and luckily have been able to make it my livelihood. Currently I am employed as an Assistant Program Director at a non-profit extended day childcare organization. I have Bachelor Degrees in Elementary Education and Writing Arts as well as certification to teach Middle School English and Social Studies. For the past 8 summers I have worked at a sleep away camp in northeastern Pennsylvania. For the past two summers I have been a Head Counselor at this institution that has up to 650 children ages 6-16. Before this position I was in charge of our evening activities and a lifeguard/waterskiing instructor. I have also been a babysitter since I was 14 and formerly worked for another sitter referral service throughout my time in college.

I like to sing and dance, create art projects, and make up new games. As an only child I’ve always had an active imagination and I connect well with kids. I can talk Star Wars and Harry Potter one minute and Dora the Explorer the next. I love getting outside with kids and running around or going to a park. I know a lot of funny songs and I’m very outgoing. I have a reliable car, can cook a decent meal, and have no problem taking kids to various activities. Hi Im Alison and I’m a student at George Mason University studying nutrition. I have lived in Fairfax my whole life and Ive been babysitting for as long as I can remember. I have two older brothers and one younger sister, so I’m able to be rough and tough with the little tykes, while being caring a gentle with the princesses. Hi, I’m Anna! I’m 25 years old and have had experience with children since day one - we all start out as infants, right?! More formally, I have been baby-sitting and volunteering with children for the past 12 years. I love working with children because it has given me the opportunity to look at the world through a child’s point of view; which I love! Being around kids provides a time to be silly and creative, fun and exploratory, encouraging and stimulating, and honest and loving. While I’m baby-sitting, it’s important to me to ensure that I do all that I can to meet all of those descriptions for the child. In addition, it’s important to maintain balance and a schedule. I find that the easiest way to do all this is to play, laugh, listen, teach, learn, explain, lead by example, and be a friend. Some of the best memories I have are from while I’m babysitting, and when I go to spend time with a child I want them to feel the same way!

In addition to babysitting, I have an Associate of Science Degree in Psychology and am working towards my Bachelor’s degree. Then, the big picture includes a PhD - it’s a good thing I love school! I also intern with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a grassroots organization that provides education and services to individuals, their families and friends, law-makers, policy holders, law enforcement, and anyone who is affected by mental illness. This has been a wonderful fit for me because it is a cause I care about and I have been able to assist in educating others, with the hope of decreasing the stigma that mental illness often carries.

Prior to becoming a mom, I worked in developmental disabilities and the healthcare field, so I have experience with special needs. Hi, my name is Karen. I am a full-time student at NOVA working to get my Associates in Early Childhood Development. I’ve been around kids all my life; I took care of my four-year-old nephew ever since he was born. I worked at a privately owned daycare for over two years and started off as a floater (going in rooms where I was needed). I worked with all ages from newborns to seven year olds. After a year and a half of working there I was given the opportunity to be the lead teacher of the 16-24 month old room.

I left the childcare center to finish getting my Associates. I am an active person, with a very trusting, honest and fun personality. Hi! My name is Katrina. I am 30 years old, originally from New York, and now live in the Ballston area of Arlington. I am currently in the midst of a career change into nursing, and studying at Marymount University. My first degree and work experience were in international relations, but I realized that I wanted to work with and help people more directly!

I have always loved working with kids, and have been babysitting since high school. I have experience with children of a variety of ages, including infants, toddlers, and those in elementary school. I worked as a nanny for an infant girl for a year after college, and have continued to babysit since then, particularly while in school. Since starting nursing school, I completed a course in OB/GYN, where I had direct experience working with infants in a hospital nursery. I am certified in Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers. I hope to eventually work as an RN in labor and delivery.

When babysitting, I strive to devote 100% of my attention and energy to the child or children. I love to engage in conversations, stories, or songs with kids; laugh with them; and be silly with them. I enjoy activities with kids like reading; arts and crafts; playing games, make believe, and hide and seek; or just running around outside. I also strive to follow the routines that kids are used to, and to carry out what parents wish and expect while they are away. I will always clean up any messes before I leave! I really enjoy spending time with children but I think a big reason why I babysit so much is due to the fact that I am extremely pro life. Hi, I’m Nikki. I am 30 years old and moved to NOVA from the Gulf Coast of Florida nearly 3 years ago. As an Army brat, I have lived all over the world, and I think that the experiences that I had in all those travels have really influenced who I have become. I have had about 18 years of child care experience. I first started babysitting when I was in middle school and have cared for many families for a number of years, with children ranging in age from newborns to pre-teens. When I was 17, my family opened a child care which I worked in until 2006. I started out as the assistant teacher in the school age program, and when school started, I became the lead teacher of the before and after school program while I attended college. Through the years I have been the lead teacher in the 2 year old, 3 year old, and pre-k classes before I became the Assistant Director of the center. While I was Assistant Director, I was constantly in all of our classrooms (1yo to School-Age) on a regular basis, so I have experience with children of all ages. Our center was one of the largest in the county, and a major portion of families were sent to us through the county recommendations, so I have experience with children with not only special family situations, but also special needs. I have been playing softball ever since I can remember. For the past three years, I have been playing on the Division I team at Mason. However, this year I have decided to hang up my cleats. I was also a cheerleader all four years of high school. Hi! I’m Becca and I am a 26-year-old graduate student. I am in my final year studying at George Mason to earn my degree in School Counseling and have recently started working as an intern a few days a week at a Fairfax County elementary school. When I am not busy interning I enjoy babysitting and substitute teaching.

I have spent the last 15+ months working as a full-time nanny for a 16-month-old boy (a position that my new intern schedule will not allow me to continue) and have loved every minute of it! Hi, my name is Rebecca. I’m a 20-year-old student. I have been working with children since I was about 13 with my first job as a sitter. Since then, I started doing swim lesson at 14 and soon after started coaching swimming for my local swim team. Hello! My name is Susan and I am a twenty-seven-year-old graduate student at Liberty University. I will complete my Masters of Arts in Teaching in December of 2011. Currently, I am a student teacher at a high school in Fairfax County. I’m a native of El Paso, Texas and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a degree in Behavioral Science. Upon graduation, I accepted a position at an educational leadership firm in Tyson’s Corner and traveled all over the country facilitating leadership conferences for high achieving middle and high school students. After two years of constant travel, I was delighted to begin my teaching career at a small private school in Washington, D.C. and taught kindergarten for a year and was the school’s reading resource teacher for another.

I’ve been baby-sitting since I was thirteen and was a nanny for a single-family throughout college. While in college, I spent two summers as a residential summer camp counselor in Asheville, North Carolina and worked with girls ages 6-15. I have extensive experience working with younger children, including infants, as well older children. I love to be active and plan creative activities to do with children of all ages!

Hi, my name is Talya and I am a twenty-three year old senior at George Mason University, studying Communication. I was born and raised in South Africa, but moved to the United States four years ago. I love it here in the US! I have worked for many different families over the last 8 years and have had the privilege of looking after children aged between birth and seven years old. For two years, I worked as a full-time pre-school teacher for children aged between 0-2 years of age. I absolutely love working with children and watching them develop. I love to be outside, exploring; learning new things; and helping children do the same. I have a fun, optimistic, and outgoing personality and get along well with children and pets. Tanika

Hi my name is Tanika. I am 21 years old and I am currently attending George Mason University. I am a junior majoring in criminal justice and minoring in forensic science. I live in Alexandria, VA, I have lived here just about all my life. I have worked with children of all ages from newborns to teens. I have two sisters, a brother, (18, 16, 6), and a dog. I also have two 3 month old twin goddaughters. I am also really athletic, I did gymnastics, step, choir, and dance. I am currently in George Mason equestrian team (I adore animals). I love to sing, dance, play and cook; I am a big kid at heart. I volunteered as a gym assistant for two years at Cora Kelly Math and Science school. I love working with children, their imaginations and personalities are so bright and bold. You can learn just as much from children as they can learn from you. Hi, my name is Tiffany and I am a graduate of Virginia Tech and Liberty University. I have been working with children for 13 years now. I have worked in various settings with children in which I was a Camp Counselor, Substitute Teacher, and Childcare Teacher. I have experience working with children from preschool age through middle school. Currently, I am a Childcare Teacher in a Fairfax County Public School, where I work with children in grades K-6. I am a full time Network Administrator for a consulting firm, a position which I held for over 12 years. I have 3 girls, ages 22, 18 and 6 and a 1 year old shih tzu/maltese puppy name Sasha.

I have an Associate’s degree in Office Administration, and I am currently studying Information System Technology at Northern Virginia Community College.

I love spending my free time with kids doing many different activities; their bright smiles and genuine comments melt your heart. I enjoy walking, reading, taking trips to the parks and to our neighborhood library. I am a very reliable and responsible babysitter.

I live in Alexandria, VA but I don’t mind driving outside my area, if you need me for a substantial amount of time. I am very comfortable with children and I have experience dealing with infants up to adolescents.

I am a kid at heart, I love taking my family on yearly trips to Walt Disney World. This is a family tradition since the birth of my first daughter. Hello!!! My name is Wanda, I am 28 years old and I live in Manassas, right next to Bull Run Park, which offers a great number of different activities I like to fill my time with. I love outdoor activities, they are a lot of fun; but reading a book, telling a story, making art or just listening to music are activities that I enjoy as well. I am very outgoing and friendly and I love working with children, which has been my main occupation over more than 10 years. I have worked as a teacher, an au pair, a nanny and a tutor for different subjects, and I loved them all!!! Children are a lot of fun, very energetic, and keep me active, which I love most!

Hello my name is Yesenia and am 23 years old. We are currently stationed in Quantico, Va due to my husband being an active duty Marine. I am currently attending American Public University System for a bachelors degree. I am very open and adapt easy to every family’s needs. I am very outgoing and love to be around people. I speak Spanish fluently and love to teach it and I hope to learn sign language fluently as well. I love to cook, bake, read, take pictures, be outdoors, staying healthy, swimming, art, sports, pets and anything that keeps me active. I have a huge passion for teaching and children. I hope one day to become a teacher. I have a lot of experience working with children from infant to 12 years of age. I have worked with children with allergies, behavioral and emotional problems, ADD/ADHD, bipolar, and more. I have worked in a christian daycare in all rooms and for a short period of time I was a teacher for the preschool room. I also worked for a babysitting/nanny agency for almost 3 years with children of all ages. I was a nanny for about two years and a half for a 10 to 12 year old boy and also worked as a secretary for her company. I did anything from running errands, filing, accounting, driver her son to activities, and anything else she needed. I am currently a part time nanny for a very sweet and active two year old girl and also help them with everyday clean up to make their lives simpler.
